Getting paid to pin? ummm Yes please!
I have had a Pinterest for as long as I can remember but I never thought I would be able to make money off of something I do for fun!
When I started my blog I switched my Pinterest from a personal account to a business one. This gave me the ability to see analytics and an option to promote my pins. After the switch I noticed an increase of over 20,000 viewers in only a few days!
Although the actual website (Pinterest) wont pay you to pin, you can get affiliate links and sponsors for your pins.
My personal favorite is Get paid for your great content. shareasale.com.” data-wplink-url-error=”true”>ShareASale, here you can find sponsors for you website! I love this program because it doesn’t matter how many followers you have.
It is hard to judge success on Pinterest by the amount of followers, success is mostly based on impressions and saves, as well as engaged audience. Thats why ShareASale makes it easy to get an account and start applying to merchant programs.
Just make sure when you do use affiliate links you put a disclaimer somewhere on your post!
You can gain traffic by re-pinning other peoples pins and vice versa! I noticed that when my pins started getting more re-pins, my viewership increased substantially.
Pinterest is a huge website, feel free to re-pin some of your older pins to bring them back up on the smart feed!
The orientation of the photo matters
Pins do better when they are vertical and not horizontal. This is in part because they fit better on a phone screen. Try to make and find content that has correct orientation and quality, so its more likely to be shared.
Treat Pinterest like a Business
I always make sure I schedule out time in my day to explore Pinterest. I use it in my personal life as well so I am pretty well versed in the layout and functions. I highly recommend taking some time to familiarize yourself with the Website and how it works from an analytic standpoint. This way you understand your stats and how to increase them.
50% of my income comes from my blog and Pinterest…I will make it a point to pin and re-pin everyday consistently to keep my viewership in the positive. I can go more in depth on the importance of consistency and viewership in a later post!
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, basically SEO uses keywords and phrases to make a page show up higher in search results. You can start dabbling in SEO by seeing what comes up when you search a certain keyword.
For example, if you type blogging into the Pinterest search bar, it will give you an option to search for certain keywords associated with blogging.
Another great way to use SEO is not just in your pins description but also in you name on Pinterest. As you can see when I type in blogging, my profile pops up under the “people” section, this is because I have blogging in my name!
Make it Pretty!
Pinterest is all about being aesthetically pleasing, Pinterest is widely used for inspiration and general how to’s. I know I go on to find home decor inspiration, outfit ideas, and even some fun recipes! The pins that catch my eye are all pretty and fit the topic they are presenting.
Last but not least Make it Your Own! With Pinterest and other social media on the rise, there are tons of people trying to do exactly what you are doing, but no one does it just like you! Be different, be real, be you!
